SUBJECT:      PSAT/NMSQT

 

The PSAT/NMSQT measures critical thinking skills that are important for success in college, including reading, math problem-solving, and writing skills.  Take this test enables students to:

            *get feedback about important academic skills

            *seek information from colleges

            *enter scholarship competitions

            *prepare for the SAT Reasoning test

            *initiate the college-planning process

 

The 2008 PST/NMSQT is the qualifying test that students must take to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation competitions for college scholarships that will be awarded in 2010. Students who meet published participation requirements, which include taking the PSAT in the specified year of their high school program (usually junior year), will enter NMSC competitions for recognition and awards.  Information about NMSC programs, entry requirements, and scholarships to be offered in 2010 can be found at www.nationalmerit.org.

 

Test dates:  Wednesday, October 15 or Saturday, October 18.

 

Test fee:  $14.00 per student tested, plus a $2.00 charge for each unused test, including shipping.

 

Register:  Call the high school at 937-2811 by May 29.  Based on the responses received by that date, I will register and order materials for our school.  Test fee can be paid in the fall.
