Ray
was born near Wibaux in Eastern Montana on February 20, 1913.
He lived there until his family moved to Missoula in 1928 where
he was
able to complete High School and attend the University of Montana.
He had earned, with a 4H project, a one year paid scholarship
for higher education.
Ray graduated from the University
in 1934 and then started his career in education. He taught in
many schools around the state until he entered the Army in 1942.
After his discharge in 1946 he resumed
teaching and furthering his education and earned his Masters
Degree in School Administration in 1951. He was hired as the principal
for the Cut Bank High School in 1954 and he remained with the Cut
Bank High School until his retirement
in 1975.
Ray was active in the Lion's Club,
the Masons and Eastern Star. He was also named Senior Citizen
of the Year in 1991.
Ray's dedication and love for his
profession and students was a valuable asset for our community.
He touched the lives of many who will remember him for a long
time.
