	Halvor Halvorson was born in Fayette County, 
Iowa. After completing his education he worked as a clerk
in a General Store for four years.
	He then moved on to Minnesota, working his way 
Westward with the Railroad from 1888 until 1901. At this
time he decided to locate in Cut Bank and he and his 
brother Henry opened a General Store on the corner of 
North Broadway (Central Avenue) and West Main Street.
	In March of 1911 he became the first Mayor of
Cut Bank. In 1914 they moved the wood framed building 
further West on Main Street where it is currently being
used as the "Golden Harvest Cafe."
	The Halvorson's then constructed a new brick
building on the corner location known as the "Halvorson
Building." Halvor passed away in October of 1925.
